From the cover
"This book is the result of several years of intensive research in the
field of price history carried out at the Institute of Economics and
History, Copenhagen. Many scholars have been engaged in the studies and
a very comåprehensive collection of original records have been
worked up. The geographical limits of the research coincides with the
boundaries of Denmark in the Age of Absolutism. The selection of
commodities has been made on an international pattern in accordance
with the principles decided upon by the International Committee on
Price History. All price data are arranged in local series and
expressed in comparable units. For converting the prices and wages in
silver equivelants the scholar will find tables of conversion.
The present volume contains a General Introduction on Danish Money,
weights and measures during the period 1660-1800, the first
outline of a history of Danish currency and metrology to be found in
English. The introduction is followed by parts on the assizes of
Copenhagen and the Copenhagen market prices. The tables are combined
with critical discussions on their institutional framework."
